I thought it might be the PTO until I read in these forums about the idler spool. I checked mine out and the pivot arm was frozen solid. I had to use a socket and snipe to free it (after removing the spring) and have been pouring the penetrating oil to it and working it back and forth to the point I can now move it back and forth by hand fairly easily.

Question is how loose should it be? There's still a fair bit of resistance but should it flop around loosely or is the resistance normal?
