The creepy gear is used primarily for tilling and snow thrower. Other than that, you may not have a need for one. I say this for two reasons, one they are kind of pricey and a couple of hours of work and two, they become the weakest link in the drive line. I just want to make sure that you make an informed decision prior to proceeding any further.
