Spent a little more time with the Walker....
The spark plug threads were stripped, so had to tap some new ones.
Went to a couple shops looking for a new gasket. First one gave me the hairy eyeball when I told him what it was for. Looked it up on the computer and found out we could order an aftermarket one. Went to the second store, and got another hairy eyeball. But he rummage through some boxes in the back and found an OEM! Told me to be careful with that one, because it wouldn't happen again.
Didn't clean the carb yet, but got it to start and idle. Trying to figure out the automatic choke right now, as I can't tell if it's working right. Also, something interesting in the design.... There's a tube coming out of the exhaust pipe that's directed at the choke. The choke has soot on it. So it appears as the exhaust warms up, the choke is supposed to turn off.
Pretty excited that there's spark and compression! Just need to work out some kinks....
