Default 2182 mower deck /belt issues

New owner of a cc2182 and no time to play mechanic now that i drive alot for work and weekends only free time. I know I have alot info in post GUYS, but figured provide as much info possible upfront.

For anyone; esp Senior CC owners, since some have done alot with SGTs and 2182 particularly. What is needed to keep mower deck belt from slipping on 2182cc, 1993 year with yellow haban 60" - currently using a gates b93 belt = 96", which PO had on it. Almost think a shorter belt- gates b92=95", since by time belt is kept taunt (esp engaged PTO), its places idler pulleys up against front frame and belt appears rubs frame. In heavy grass i have to go slow and my son on a jd L-130 w/48" zooms around me. Defeated my purpose of buying unit when I thought it would cut right along and wider swath. What insights do you have? Thank you in advance.

FIRST time to post pics>>>

Here's pics of mule drive -belt setup. In one pic see Belt comes around main pulley; there's a black bar- lazy "S" just under main pulley and between belt.
One of pics shows inside of front frame where someone has ground out area for belt not to be rubbed by frame.

Current pics can't show belt in current tension setting allows belt to rub against a yellow "spring" bar just inside/backside of front frame.

Notice black mark on right side of image- indicates to me belt rubbing.

Prior PO said he added a spring (seen in one of Pics) on left side of image to keep that idler pulley from being pulled back when PTO engaged, thus allowed belt slippeage which he felt solved that dilemma. Prior PO also said this stopped belt from wearing out prematurely.
Pulleys all roll freely, no rust inside valley of pulleys. All zerks take on grease. Main spring appears to have alot of tension?? Looking at front of unit- Based on Moving left side hand pulley release bar requires some effort after other side idler pulley threaded in full loose position. What is proper tension? What should belt do or not do when PTO engaged? Without spring added by prior PO belt slaps alot.
