This is an old picture dirty carpet and all. The inside is the deluxe style as well as the outside with the deluxe trim. The buckets and console are not "stock". Originally it had a bench front and back is a bench as well. The seats are out of a travelall (the surburn for IH). Much debate has been waged over the use of buckets in travelette's. I have never seen any high back buckets in a travelette seen a few low backs. But with IH you never know as they would literally build what ever you wanted. And if IH wouldn't most dealers would modify it to what you wanted. The line setting ticket with what came on the truck was still tapped to the back of the glove box. The truck was originally a 2wd and had a chysler sourced 727 auto with an IH bellhouse face. The PO made it a 4x4 and swapped in the T34.
Pictures of motor before I started the detail work.
The T34 is not a really good trans ratio wise. As IH made the 4th the OD and made the old 5th the direct 4th. So shifting 3-4 you get a huge RPM drop that sucks while towing heavy and in large hills. The shift pattern is unique because of its
1-2-5
R-3-4
But it works great OD wise when just cursing around with the .82 OD. The other two 5 speeds used in the trucks were the T35 and T36 which both were direct but had different gear ratio setups. These transmissions were also used in the loadstars to a certain GVW then they used clarks.
