I think the narrow front was optional for any of 10 series which included the 20 thru 50.
and yes we had 'two' digit phone numbers, Mom ran the phone office and I often operated the switch board after school when I wasnt at Pops shop or delivering the newspaper.... I wonder how many 12 yr old kids today actually work after school.... OMG
