Finished the lawn mowing ahead of the storms last evening and had time to disassemble the steering column. What a dirty mess. No wonder it didn't steer very well. Will be up-grading to the thrust bearing version like my other 782.

Was also going to open up the hydro unit for exterior cleanup and painting. Any precautions or no-no's to consider before separating the two? Do I just remove the bolts and lift the pump unit straight up?
