The K series are very basic engines so most anyone can tear one down and put it back together, and theres nothing to lose if it isnt running. Plus its a good skill to learn for anyone trying to maintain and old GT. Even if you get another engine I would recommend checking the clearances on the lower rod bearing and replace it if needed. Its the most common problem and its a cheap easy job while the engine is out.
