Same here. Have dealt a fair bit on craigslist - you never know what you are going to get in terms of behavior. Sometimes its a simple/easy transaction. Sometimes it is not, and just becomes a big time suck. This sounds like the latter, and not worth even trying to make a deal.

A wise adviser once told me; 'you cant make a good deal with a snake". This was more because you are in business together afterwards, but its kinda true for one-off transactions as well.

In this case you will never know what you are buying until long after the deal is done. A simple take it or leave it offer, sure. But dont be shy about walking away and never giving it another thought.

A 149 in average shape should go for about $400 - $500 in my area. Pristine restoration $800, but only to the right buyer and will take a while. A good deal is about $300 to $350 (but you may have to wait for that).
