J-Mech, No, the new engine did not come with any paperwork. I can't complain. I purchased it from a very reputable dealer as a scratch and dent item with a deeply discounted price. After the purchase I was able to locate both an Owner's Manual and a Service Manual.

I purchased my Cub Cadet SLT 1554 as Salvage and know that the transmission is in good condition because I mounted a 5.5 hp vertical shaft engine on the tractor and mowed with a 60" Swisher pull-behind mower for two years. Last month, I completely refurbished the deck and spindles. It looks like a new tractor! I have decided to pay a pro to hook up the wiring. He has done work for me in the past and is both knowledgeable and fair in price. Meanwhile, I have learned a lot, but do not want to risk damaging the engine.
