I'm not sure if this should have been in this tractor or not. However, in 2004 this tractor was said to have had a repower at the dealer. Unfortunately the decals on the engine say kohler Command 18hp.
It has the 60" deck and in high grass, about 5" tall, and on the highest setting on the deck wheels this tractor really struggles to mow. It boggs down a bunch and I have to stay in about the 1st position on the speed selector.
I heard these things mow like crazy, is this common for it to bog down this much? The grass is a little tall but it's not very thick.
I've heard there was a way to bring the 18hp to the 20 hp with a carburetor adjustment? How do I do this. I haven't been able to find it in my searchings.

They have a throttle limit screw that won't allow the throttle to go wide open. I've been told that all you need to do is to remove the screw. I have not had the opportunity to do this. As far as I know the screw is what I have circled in red. This was taken with the blower housing removed but you should be able to get at it from the top by removing the air filter and the filter base. Let us know if this works for you.
