Jury duty....what a kick! I've served before and you are lucky to get $40/day....I got something like $12 or $15!! Then, in order to get paid by my employer, I had to surrender that tidy sum to my employer because there is no "double dipping" in the state I resided in at the time. The last time I was called in to be interviewed for jury duty, I had the time of my life!!! A couple of people WANTED to serve and asked how much THEY WOULD MAKE a day for serving, while another guy intentionally tried to get kicked off the jury and said he couldn't serve because he kept odd hours by staying awake playing video games until 5 or 6 in the morning and then sleeping until 4 or 5 in the day or sometimes not sleeping at all. He went on to say that he was not employed (wonder why?). Then he went on to say it was against his religion to serve. When asked what religion he belonged to, he replied, "Self Religion! The religion in my heart." I was in tears.....tears laughing, thinking about Mr. Stadanko on the Cheech & Chong skit, along with Sister Mary Elephant. Hanging on the edge of my seat the entire time!! Finally, the judge scorned him and said he wanted him out of the courtroom immediately!! Another lady was deaf, so they screamed at her that she was dismissed. It took them 5 tries to convince her she could leave the courtroom and all the while, I'm tearfully laughing.....thinking, "Hell, just open a window and yell it toward Moscow, where they will stand a better chance of hearing you." It was one of the most memorable days of my life!! I hope you have the time of your life, too, and such a memorable experience!! It is really nothing to be taken lightly and a civic responsibility........but man, I got a free show and got paid to watch it!!!

It just doesn't get much better than that!!
