First welcome to OCC. Jack the front end up and grease all the grease points. Work it back and fourth. Double check all ball joint nuts are tight. Double check the axle pivot. If you have bad ball joints they are easy enough to replace. I don't get what the rocking motion is in the steering box. Unless you mean moving the steering wheel before the tires move. Make sure the two bolts holding the steering box are tight. Just taking the steering box apart and cleaning up 30+ year old grease does wonders. IF you need to rebuild the steering box they are easy. Do a search here and learn from everybody .
