What Travis says is true especially if the gun builds up pressure and it won't take grease and you try to remove the gun.
I'd say if you just want/need to change them, grab/clamp them vertically with a set of vice grips and twist and pull and they will come out. Then run a 1/4 x28 tap in the hole and put new fitting in
