Pretty sure I read somewhere you could use both the axles and tubes from a 1x3/1x4/1x5, which all had bearings, but you had to use both the tubes and axles together. The axles from the later NF were hardened where the bearings rode on them. If you used the 71 axles with the tubes that have bearings, or had the tubes machined to use bearings, the axles would wear as the bearings are hard and would wear axles that were originally used with bushings. So no mixing and matching of axles and tubes, but use what was together originally. Hopefully this is correct.

I have a 123 axle and tube set I am planning on using on a 71, to upgrade the worn bushings to bearings.
