The dealer dad worked for always saved parts, it was their way of preventing arguments. Dad did misc. lawn and garden mechanic work for 20 years after he retired and continued to offer the old parts. Both also had a policy of trying to "use" the equipment after it was repaired. If it was going to fly all to pieces, it needs to happen at the shop before you tell the customer it is ready! I don't know how some of these guys run a repair shop sitting solely on concrete and asphalt. The mechanic has no way of "loading" the mower. I got to use all sorts of mowers in the 1 acre testing filed where dad worked. One of my all time favorites was a front deck mounted Toro, and a Heckendorn (about 7' cut).
