Kohler Coils
My 2186 18 hp Kohler quit on me yesterday an hour into cutting. Was running fine then started stuttering and finally stopped within about 20-25 seconds. Oil level is good so it wasn't the low oil cut-off cant find any broken or shorted wires and fuses are good. There is no current going to the spark plugs (either one). My cub dealer said more than likely the 2 coils or the kill switch wire next to them. Can they (coils) be changed without pulling the engine off ? If so, what is the best way ? Or does the engine have to come off ? Any help would be appreciated.
