I just stumbled across your post. I also have a 2166 w/42" deck purchased new in 2003 that just hit 700 hrs. The Kohler 16 hp. single cyl. is now acting like it is starving for fuel after running for an hour or so. I can choke it and it runs smooths out then starts sputtering, take it off choke and it smooths out for a little while then does it again. I have just replaced the fuel line from tank to pump, fuel filter, spark plug, cleaned gas cap & added some Seafoam but it still does it. Also my deck will not cut level anymore. I have new blades and have checked the blade tips side to side to each other and there is just a tad of deviation but should not be enough to cause the extreme uneven cutting. I used a deck gauge and everything is level until I actually mow and it looks like patooy. I have adjusted the front lift arm to achieve a half way decent cut and it is crazy how much one side it lifted higher than the other. I also lowered the deck on the discharge side by adjusting the nut until it's almost bottomed out and the tires are at correct psi. It's 14 years old and I have maintained it religiously but I am at my wits end and would appreciate any advice before I just give up on it. Thanks, Rudy.
