Since I'm the only one in the house that likes it, I wrap an ear(with husks removed) with a paper towel and microwave for 3min. Even less heat in the kitchen. 
I leave the husks on and put 5or6 ears in a freezer bag and throw in the freezer. Easier than canning but takes up a lot of room.
