1810 and 1811 had the 18 hp Magnum. They were basically newer versions of the 6 and 782. I think a slight wiring change must be done due to the ignition if you go with a Magnum engine. By the way, Magnums are pretty much an improved version of the older KT series. Having said that, some parts can be a little pricey/hard to find. A Magnum would probably be the simplest swap. A lot of folks have done newer engines, I think even some Vanguard swaps have been done. Bottom line if it will fit, it can be done if you are willing and have the skills for the modifications. I don't know for sure, but you may could sub a 20hp Magnum (M20) in place of a 18hp(M18)---but I think the crank sizes are different and would need a different PTO clutch. One of the reasons I think the M18 was suggested is that besides being simple, it wold be one of your cheaper swaps (assuming you have to buy a replacement engine). If you really want to pursue an engine swap, search he forums, or start a new thread on what you have and what your options are--you'll get more traffic there than in the "Welcome to OCC" section. Oh, if you pursue this--post lots of pictures!!!! Best of luck!
