I get a measurement of 79.5 by making a mark on the belt and then rolling the belt on the ground next to a tape measure until i come up to the mark again.( my measuring method may be off a bit so i believe its an 80" belt). The part number is stamped on the belt (489399-R1) which some online digging shows it a 1/2 by 80" belt . I figured since its an 80" i would try it. I adjusted the tensioner pulley all the way in and took the spring of the other pulley next to it. Even after that i had to pry it on. It was so tight when cranking the pto was engaged but would not turn. I did not start it like this, i just wanted to see if it would even spin. I wonder if i may have a 42" deck off another model?

I measured 79.5" with some possible slight error so i'm sure it's an 80" belt but it is 1/2 width assuming the width is measured by the outside of the belt. The part number 489399-R1 is on the belt which is a 1/2 by 80" belt. Other online companies show a belt that directly replaces the 490489-R2 as being a 1/2 by 81.5" Its confusing . Not sure what to order or if i can return this one.
