I put the tires/rims on the cement floor,stand on tires @ the rim, with the heals of my work boots and put the tire iron between my heals and hit it with an #8 sledge with one hand while holding the bar with my other hand.
about 2 hits in 3 different positions around the rim and it is broken down, flip rim & repeat.
Then use the long handled spoons to remove the tire from the rim.
Easy peasy, been doing it that way for 65 years.

tire soap helps for the rusted ones.
