I want you all to know how much I value these comments. After careful review of everything that I have done to get this 147 up and running again, I tend to agree that the fault may lie with the field coil. Since the tractor ran, with the old crispy factory wiring harness, and the charging indicator pegged(changed direction) left and right, I assumed after I replaced the harness and went through the starter/generator that the condition would have been corrected but I was wrong.

I made a jumper from the GRN terminal to the VR’s attachment to the frame but it made no difference so I’m prepared to remove it again and follow the instructions in the manual prior to ordering a new one. I will check all of my connections again and follow up as soon as I can to let everyone know if adjustment brings the VR back to normal operation.
