I agree that using the rear end for fluid is the best choice. But I wouldn't "T" the suction line. Likely cause issues. As in fluid starvation of one or both pumps. Drilling a tapping a second hole would be better. Don't have to return to the rear fill plug. Weld a bung on the top cover and drain into the top. Could even install a suction tube into the oil from that point also.
You don't need a PTO for a front pump. It can run all the time.

I agree, FWIW, on hydraulic comments. Nightow1, (Keith) AKA... HIGH SPEED, has a really nice ported hydro and rear end. He's been wanting to sell it for a while now.
