Just as a note, I'd buy a weld on bung. The cover really isn't thick enough to tap. I wasn't clear.

Where would you mount a pump if you were to drive it off the front PTO location? Would you mount it off to the side like the starter? Or underneath, like a snowblower or genset's pulley on a bracket attached to the frame?

Yes, a plain pulley would be fine. See below for mounting.

This was my thinking. But there is a "but". *BUT* it would only work if the engine was tapped for an electric PTO. If it isn't, then a different mounting would have to be made. If it can't be direct driven, I suggest mounting it under the front on a bracket attached were the mule drive is. Cleaner look, short belt.
If you do have the PTO mounting holes, should just be able to bolt an adapter on. Love joy coupler will be required. There may not be enough room though. Just have to measure it out.
