I recently bought my first cub cadet. It's a big country UTV that has been used and abused. I got it for a great price though. I have been looking for one of these for a few years now. My Dad has one and I really like it. When I brought it home it wouldn't start. I cleaned the wire terminals on the back of the ignition. That fixed the problem. It ran great but when I stopped it would idle down and shut off. I tried cleaning the carburetor but the screws on the bowl rounded out. I ended up replacing the carb, fuel filter, air filter, and plugs. Now it starts and runs like it should. The electronic shift quit working and the former owner replaced it with a shift knob behind the passenger seat. The rear differential didn't work. I found where he had attached a spring to keep it in constant single drive. I can take that spring off and put a different one on it pulling the lever to the front and locking both rear wheels. It works but it's a hassle. Every plastic body panel is cracked, missing, or riveted back together. I looked into new fenders but they are very expensive.
Does anyone else like these UTV's? For what I use it for it's much more useful than most of the newer trail versions. I tried searching this forum but the filter only finds posts containing the word "country". I'd like to repair the rear differential lock if possible.
After I got it running good I made some racks to haul our ladder stands.
I also use it to drag out osage logs that I make into long bows. I have a home made log sled that I use. I am working on a log loading arch trailer. It's just about done.
