I would want it to be a recoil start with the correct muffler and a 3 point on it, too. In all fairness, he asked us to put a price on it for "what it is worth" and no one really has. Probably out of fear of insulting. Ok, I will put a price on what I think it is worth and I certainly hope that this is not an insult, as that is not the spirit in which I intended it. Unfortunately, they are never worth all of the TLC that we give them and all of the meticulous hours we spend with our attention to details. There is no doubt the cub is certainly a very well done restoration and certainly would be an honorable piece to anyone's collection. I would place a value on it right now of somewhere between $1200 to $1500. Right now it is just an original and looks like it is lacking purpose without any piece of equipment with it. The only "extra" feature is the round fenders. Headlights would be a very nice feature to see on it and would make it seem more nostalgic of that era. If it had some other items to accompany it, like it needs a timed deck, or a Mott on the front, or a front original blade, or a 3 point, or a hydraulic lift, or a tiller, or any one of the many other attachments with it, of equal quality restoration, then the price would go up accordingly. The more rare the attachment, the more the price would increase.
The price I quoted is where I would be as a buyer. I would expect the seller to adjust the price a little to allow a little wiggle room for dickering, but still keep it close to where the seller is to make it seem within grasp, so as a seller I would price it somewhere between $1400 to $1700. Well, that is just my advice. Now that I have put that out there, perhaps others will chime in and offer their opinions and then you can weigh in on our advice.
