Growing up the neighbors bought a brand new IH red 782 - we always had small cub cadet riders, but I thought that 782 garden tractor was so much better than our lawnmowers. Hub caps, hydrostatic, hydraulic lift! We had IH tractors on our farm, so naturally I loved their 782. I got it in my head a few years ago that I'd like one just like I remembered theirs.

After a short while searching, I found an original unrestored red 782. I went to look it over, cut with it, drive it, etc. The man selling it also had a fully restored new condition 2072 Super Garden Tractor. I found myself much more interested in that one than the 782! Something about the massive tires, extended frame, dual hydraulics, and power steering talked to me. From that day on I wanted one just like it...

So here it is - not exactly a 2072, but an 1872 which is close enough for me. I purchased it from the original family with 1162 hours on it. Tractor is complete with the original 60" Haban deck. Only missing parts were the hood ornament (need one if you can help) one spring clip to hold in one headlamp (let me know if you have one), hood hinges and deflector chute. I had to replace the gas cap and front flex coupler. It has a few hydraulic leaks - one at the bottom of steering block, and one at bottom of the pump. Starts, runs, steers, drives and cuts perfect. Deck has zero rust - the brown discoloration looks like juicy dried grass stains.

I plan to obtain a snowblower attachment, wheel weights, and chains (if they will clear the fenders) for winter use. Once everything is mechanically sound, I plan to do a full paint job and decal restoration.
