LMAO.. Actually, YES.. I have returned 5-6 Ford 300 single barrel's in the last year. These are china new carbs that are at a great price if you get a good one but one out of 4-5 we get is no good. You can tell as soon as you go to adjust mixture screw and nothing happens. Can turn all the way in runs rich, turn all the way out and remove with no change.. Pop another carb on and it will run great. Now I understand this is not the same as a tractor carb but I would think there are some crappy manufacturers of them out there also..New carb could be ported incorrectly or even sometimes not at all.. Oooops, missed a step! lol..
I have never gotten a bad carb for a tractor. Your right! But I have always either rebuilt and cleaned what I had or purchased a factory part. Problem with the Ford 300 carbs is they aint makin no more at ford. the rebuild kits cost almost as much as an aftermarket carb. Carb guys near me anyway are almost extinct.. <sad but true... And dollar for dollar I would rather pay my labor to install a second carb than pay a guy to rebuild a carb. In the time it takes to rebuild properly I could have the same guy change the carb 20 times.
All good points tho.. I was only trying to cover all the bases to the question and my gut feeling was totally junk in the carb either from his tank or the devilish packaging peanut! lol
