I remember when they were selling NEW 1983 Yamaha venture royals in the crates as late as '88,because they overbuilt production
and they didn't sell like they planned.
I ride my '83 venture royal and it still turns heads, but sadly I don't ride as much as I did when it was new.(and I was younger)
But still a nice pleasant quiet ride.
