That first photo was at our small towns annual Labor Day tractor pull. That 100 in the background belonged to a friend of my Dad's. Also if you look close, you'll see some kids sitting on the fenders of a red outfit behind me. That was a homemade job with a Wisconsin 2 cylinder that always walked away with the prize.
Back then, the classes were all about weight. Weigh in at the scales of the local grain elevator, then to the track.
If you look, you'll see a bar stuck in the footboard and over the rear axle with an IH wheel and suitcase weights on the 100, also notice the pallet with sandbags on the homemade job.
We'd pull a sheet of aluminum and every 10' or so on the track another person would jump on till ya stalled out. No weight transfer sleds needed.:biggrin2.gif: You use to see just about every make of tractor then. Wheel Horse, Simplicity, A-C, and those ugly green things. I can still hear all those belts squeeling on the old J-D's.:biggrin2.gif::biggrin2.gif:
OlGeorge, that's my '50 Chevy pickup, another interest of mine. I also have a '51 I'm restoring.
