No, you do not have to take the key out first. Clean up the shaft with some emry cloth, and a wire brush. You do have to loosen up or remove the set screws first... I remove them and spray Kroil in the holes. May need some heat on the center of the pulley. You need the puller from Jeff.

Oh, you can probably run a die down it and fix it. But you need to put a nut on while pulling the wheel until it comes loose. You are going to have to do something before you pull the wheel though because you swelled the end of the shaft now.

Ok, got the steering taken apart. Couple questions. Based on pictures below... what am I missing from steering? I think i need a new upper bearing and seal. The cam follower appears to be in good condition. I need a new steering gear seal, the old one was trashed. Before ordering, i want to make sure i can fix the flared out end I messed up yesterday.
Next question, is this the correct generator starter? The way its connected with washers as a spacer makes me wonder if wrong...
