If yours is running smooth at all rpms i wouldn't go messing with the distributor cap.... Unless you still have the carb off you might as well access the cap & check it out & wipe it down (I think its also buried there on the wg600 too?) The FIL's now has a wg750 (donor engine after his wg600 crank was ruined) that had a definite miss that seemed to get worse as it heated up. I believe getting rid of the corrosion on the cap contacts fixed that specific issue.
His also had a couple fuel issues but new bung's & strainers, fuel filters, fuel pump & lines got the fuel flowing again and then disabling the fuel solenoid fixed the stalling issue. His seems to be running strong again but I'd like to take the time this winter to rewire it in the simpler sam mac way.
If your carb is still apart can you please take a close up of the float & valve? it looks different than the FIL's and I'm curious...thx.
