It's most likely the ignition switch terminals are corroded. Try and start the engine while you wiggle the wires on the switch as you are turning the key.
If engine turns over you now found your problem. I have had this problem many times with my 782s. You may have to replace the switch or you might get lucky with cleaning the terminals and wire connectors.
