I don't think you understand. Buying a gear drive tractor doesn't change anything. It still has splined axles and hubs, unless you get an older Cub, then it will have a different set up entirely.
If the axle splines are still good, get a new hub. It's likely you need both though. I would look for a used transaxle. Or, go buy a Cub Cadet made before 1994 or so.
