Some people take remarks like that as rude. The guy came here for help. Theres no way of knowing if he knows how to use a test light or not. Im guessing he knows staring at it will yield no result and he didnt ask anyone to go there and do it for him.
I'm not one for sugar coating things either Jon, but when I deal with a novice on anything I try not to be so abrupt. Especially when someone is just asking for some help.
