I have posted some threads in other areas, but figured I would just make a thread. Been getting around to getting the 128 engine taken apart this past week. I finally got the flywheel pulled today and that allowed me to get into the motor and pull the rod and piston, camshaft, governor gear and all I have left to do is pull the valves soon as I get or borrow a valve spring compressor.
The inside of the motor looks great. No unusual pieces of metal or debris floating around. The cylinder has a great crosshatch at the bottom of the bore, but is completely gone on the piston ring portion. The second compression ring was stuck, but the first ring and oil rings were all fine. The rod bearing surface looked really good to me considering it is the original rod. The crank surface felt smooth and I could not see any issues, but I will still have it mic'd. I would be surprised if it needs to be cut down, but I do know I will have the cylinder bored. Going to replace everything with new including rod of course, camshaft with a Kirk Engines cam, new valves and guides and Governor gear.
