For my 149, I taped off the unpainted parts, and sprayed the rest with black paint. Then I cut the lettering out of a decal, and put it on the tin. It takes a lot of patience, but I think it's worth it.
Or, as Lew suggested, you can just get a decal, but they aren't textured like the original tin.
