Thanks for the replies guys.
There isn't a release lever on top of the transmission cover like on the 1641. Must be a Sunstrand. I was worried about pulling it down a long driveway in order to load it.
I brought it home yesterday and couldn't be happier. I got it for $150 with snowblower attached. The owner said it had a blown head gasket, and it looked rough. When looking at it, I noticed it had oil halfway up the dipstick - about 3x what was needed - and the air cleaner housing was missing, just the paper filter sitting on top of the carb. Just generally poorly maintained.
It literally took two men and a boy to detach the blower and load it on the truck, then winch the tractor on with a come-along. (No battery and flat front tires.
Once I got it home, I put a battery in, drained and refilled the oil with a new filter, drained the gas tank and refilled it, removed the carb and cleaned the bowl, and generally looked for any other sources of trouble. It started right up, and after a minute of running on half choke, smoothed out and runs like a top!
