Just did one where the gear came off the shaft,turned it over on the engine stand, pulled the flywheel,bearing plate,oil pan,crank and cam to put a new gear in, have to play with the rod position in the bore to get crank in and out though, rod and rings were good so I didn't disturb them,new gear,gaskets and seals,back up and running no problems !
