Of course Sam knows this. Some people confuse the mag and stator and what they actually do. The permanent fixed out magnet on the flywheel rarely if ever go bad. More likely that they could be damaged by a improperly installed mag.

The magnets on inside of flywheel for stator charging did have problems in a number of different models with coming unglued. These magnets have nothing to do with spark.

As Sam said. I would be looking at the kill wire circuit. If its grounded, you wont get spark
