Default Cub Cadet Compression

I inherited a Cub Cadet from my great aunt. It hasn't been ran in 4-5 years. I'm currently going through the machine cleaning everything up. My biggest issue is there's to much compression. Without the spark plugs in it will turn over great. With them in it don't want to turn over. I seen a video saying there may be a area to peek and see if the ACR springs may be broke/missing. I'm not sure where I need to be looking. The engine is a Kohler KT17S

I'll try to upload a picture to see if there is where I need to be looking. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
