Just same suggestions to put a process on what you want to do....
before you connect anything to the coil......
1. Remove the spark plug and loosen the s/g belt so the s/g can just spin....
2. Ground you engine to the neg battery pole.....
3. Now touch you pos battery to the "A" terminal....
The s/g should spin like a motor. This will tell you the s/g is good starter wise....
4. Spray some lube in the spark plug hole to lube your cylinder and tighten the belt....
5. Do step 3 again and see if engine cranks, if not you have other problems.....
6. Connect spark plug wire from coil to spark plug and ground spark plug body to engine block.....
7. Jumper battery pos pole to coil "+" terminal....
8. Do step 3 again and watch for spark on plug.....
This will test your coil, points, and plug....
9. If spark is good re-install spark plug and have fun.....

Warning....
Don't leave the coil jumperd to the battery for any length of time without the engine
running or you risk burning your coil or points.
