582 - it runs! but PTO issue?
I posted pics over in the welcome forum about this 582. I've changed the carb out with a new one and cleaned up the throttle linkages, and it seems to run pretty well! It hadn't been started in years, so I soaked the cylinders before turning it over by hand to make sure I didn't stick a ring or anything. Once it fired up and cleared out, it runs and sounds good, no smoke or noise.
Can't say I'm a fan of working on that throttle linkage haha!
Here's my issue. I doubt that PTO was ever turned on since it never had an attachment on it. When I flip the switch, it will spin but it bogs the motor down to the point of killing the engine, even when I try to give it full throttle.
Are these PTOs difficult to replace? Can they be rebuilt? Or is this an engine problem with it being down on power or something?
