OK. I crawled under the cub today (big guy, no lift, small space, that sucked). The manual says there is an adjustment rod and an adjustment ferrule on the left side of the mower. However, there is now ferrule, but the rod is had a connector in the middle held by 2 bolts that can be adjusted. On the right side there is an adjustment ferrule, but this is for the brake. I assume that I do not need to adjust this in order to gain more forward speed.

The reason I want to adjust the forward speed is because I am only getting between 2.5 and 3 mph right now. checked it against hand held GPS.

Are you sure your achieving max RPM from engine? There could be other causes for not moving as fast as it should
