I did check the lug nut and it is 7/16-14. I have been assuming it is the stock size as it is shown on the Cub website.
From the discussion, it appears Cub used many different options, including lug bolts, studs and lug nuts, and possibly different sizes.
I was hoping a plain old lug nut would be a simple and widely available item, but apparently not so much. I do plan on keeping my 782 and although it is a worker and not a parade machine I do want to make it nice, so I'll just go ahead & buy a set.
