personally I like the jack shaft idea ! when I was a kid back in the 60's using a tiller on our 105 that long belt was a problem when times were good and the belt was 20 bucks ! We'd plow then run the tiller over it and sure enough that belt would catch some sod or get to whipping around get thrown off and torn up ! I suppose if we had a disc to cut it up first may have been easier on belts !
