During the winter months, my BIL used to drill a tiny hole in the seal of "permanently lubed" bearings on each of their two combines.
Using a rubber tipped fitting, he would then lube the bearing, run the machine a couple minutes, then lube each bearing again.
He would then seal the hole with some silicone caulk,,
The rate of bearing failures during the harvest season fell to almost zero.
Every other neighbor was "running for parts" and we were harvesting.
After their harvest was over, my nephew took up the hobby of custom harvesting for the neighbors that were broke down,,
He asked for cash, and fuel,, and made a nice pile of "pocket money" !!
