The coupling that fits on it is worn allowing it to wallow the mating
input shaft, if that is your question.
I have no idea what you have attached to the shaft coming
out of the transmission unless it is a rear PTO.
In that case, I would say it has been used a lot.
pictures would help and a little more info.
If it is indeed a diesel engine they are known to pound out the coupling due to the fact it is a diesel,and just the nature of the beast.
