Not difficult to remove from front or side, a strap wrench works best from the front with grill dropped down.

I wonder how hard it is to find genset tin already formed for a filter?
Just picked up a 1711 w/ 2 stage blower and No. 1 IHC tiller, deck, and would like to add a filter for longevity.
Got a good deal, as it needed a fuel pump and actually caught fire on the prior owner! (very minimal damage).
